About Us

Kitschy Cat Lady began in 2012, when I discovered decoden.  I loved the over-the-top, colorful style!  I watched videos, read blogs, and followed some extremely talented artists on social media.  Then one day, I took the plunge - I made my own decoden phone case!

My first projects were mainly made of embellishments I purchased from Etsy shops, but I soon decided to try my hand at making my own polymer clay decorations.  Cupcakes, lollipops, and ice cream scoops were some of my first creations, and they turned out great. I had fun working with clay, but I just didn't love it.  It was missing something...SPARKLE!

That's when I found resin.  I could mix any sort of glitter, sprinkles, or flakes into this magical liquid, pour it into a mold, and end up with a sparkly little treasure!  I was in love with resin, and it quickly took over our store.  Earrings, brooches, trinket boxes, and more - if I had a mold, I could make it!

I've refined my technique over the years, and learned new ways to finish my creations, including ways to repurpose common household items to add color and personality to my resin pieces.  And while many of us resin artists use similar molds, we all have our own signature style.  Mine just happens to be inspired by my love of cats, Halloween, and Disney.

Of course, I wouldn't be able to do this on my own.  My husband pitches in and helps me with sanding pieces, and listens to my ideas.  He's also my partner in crime when it comes to in-person events.  He's always there, providing the muscle to set up our space, talking to customers, and being the best cheerleader I could ever ask for when it comes to my work.

What comes next for Kitschy Cat Lady?  Who knows!  But I hope you'll stick around to find out!  :-)
